WPC Plant Assistant Operator or WPC Plant Operator

The City of Ames is accepting applications from qualified candidates to fill one vacancy in the Water & Pollution Control Department. Actual classification as WPC Plant Assistant Operator or WPC Plant Operator will depend on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. WPC Plant Assistant Operator salary range is $18.89-21.54/hr. WPC Plant Operator salary range is $21.54-$28.66/hr. Work shift involves combinations of 8 and 12-hour days, including evening and weekend shifts on a rotating schedule.

Salary Range:  $45,650.00 - $87,893.00  /year
Duties:
As a senior design engineer and technical team leader for environmental projects, you will complete complex assignments involving design and review of hazardous and toxic waste (HTW) projects, domestic and industrial wastewater treatment/disposal systems and domestic water supply, treatment and distribution systems. Prepare details, layouts, calculations, sketches and related items. Review AE designs to determine compliance with project objectives, criteria, and operational reliability. Direct and advise other engineers (environmental, civil, mechanical and electrical) in water/wastewater treatment and disposal methods, equipment selection and plan/specification development. For contracted work you will be a participant in contract negotiations on issues related to scope and cost.
